Is it the end yet? well of the work week, and

I had heard good things about Obama, from my son and a nephew during the primaries - they were looking for a change in government leadership and he sounded so good - I never found the time to listen, but I thought he was sincere and could be an improvement. I have really given up on Washington, DC, I do think the money men own the elected representatives of the people, not that some of them aren't worth owning, they do work hard but for whom? Until he decided he knew me and what my problem was:

As Obama put it: "(T)hey get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations

Well, I guess I identify with the gun clinging, religious folks - especially on motorcycles (just kidding about that). But I didn't have any love of McCain, except he was a Vietnam Vet, didn't come home early either. But as a politician he was tainted by DC, and his gun carrying isn't as good as I want so I was almost going to sit this election out. Oh, I would have voted - we have important local races to run and see if King County can manufacture votes again like they did last time - I am a real person and I only vote once per election, honest! But I was out of interest in the Presidential run off, I just didn't think the Republicans looked that different from the Democrats - suits cost about the same, haircuts too costly and the perks and paybacks are on both sides of the aisle. Kind of reminds me of my send off to a departing Battalion Commander - he was on his way to the Pentagon, would get promoted and start looking for that star, but I shook his hand and shook my head, when you get to Washington the only soldiers you are going to see are in Arlington or called in to march in a parade - everyone else in uniform is in politics.

Well, Senator McCain, I have to thank you for your great decision, Governor Palin, one of those bitter gun clinging, religious folk - and she doesn't put up with fools, nor corruption (even in her own party!). She doesn't deserve to be punished by living in Washington, DC. Isn't it time we centered the Capital again? To save fuel and increase Maryland's tax base, of course.

I surely do love fearless women.

Brother, I felt patronized by McCain when he chose Palin because my opinion is that he chose simply because she was a woman in order to get the Hillary votes. I still remember the sting of George H.W. Bush choosing Dan Quayle because his media consultants told him that he needed an attractive man as a running mate to get the women's votes that were not going his way. Governor Palin may be a good politician, a good mother, and a good wife, but I do not want the first woman president to get there by way of an older president dying a natural death during his administration. At least he is not the first presidential candidate to have a female running mate. He missed the boat on that one.

Voting against a woman, the most qualified of the four nominees, because you want to elect a woman for President? Work on that logic a bit, you aren't going to be an Elector soon are you? Gee, we are looking for Historical anything? I want someone in office that I trust - none of the other three fit my criteria. Presidents only become History because... and MSM has only ad time to sell, don't trust them either...

Earl: I researched her about three months ago when Michael Bane posted something about her on his blog. She is the only one who could get me to vote Republican this election and now I WILL. It was a brilliant move by the Republicans. Now there is a difference between the candidates. I always said the VP choice would be the tie-breaker and it is.

All The Best,

The reality is Mrs. Palin IS a good choice, for the reasons you have said, and because she is the ONLY one of the four with real executive experience.

From what I've seen so far, I agree Earl. We have family in Alaska who are crying over their moose meat and smoked salmon at the prospect of losing thier Gov. In a phone call withthem yesterday, I heard 30 minutes of what Palin had done for the state of Alaska, how well she is recieved and listened to by men an women, is a fair and decisive person who they hope will not be corrupted by the big boys of Washington. She is the change we need. Yes, there is an inexperience factor,(like Obama has ANY experience?) but I'd hope McCain will be in office for a year or so, before his demise which is so often discussed, and Palin will learn quickly. Plus, there will be an experienced cabinet in place for guidance. Palin is what our country needs, common sense, straight shooting, this is what we need to do-no whining-get your butt in gear ACTION. Not more feel good rhetoric. We have not been strong McCain supporters, but she seems to really represent change. Guess we'll discover more during the coming weeks.
Have a nice holiday,

Back to moving the capital of the US

# The geographical center of the lower 48 states lies outside of Lebanon, Kansas, in the middle of a hog farm.

# The geographical center of all 50 states is located 17 miles west of Castle Rock, South Dakota.

# The geodetic center of the U.S. is found approximately 42 miles south of Lebanon, Kansas. (Note: A geodetic survey makes corrections to account for the curvature of the Earth.)

Anywhere from South Dakota to Kansas sounds just fine to me. No lawyers nor lobbyists allowed.

I have to admit that the "bitter, clinging" quote is what completely shut the door on Obama for me, and Palin's selection is what confirmed my McCain vote.

You expressed it perfectly.

Earl,
She impresses me with her "get er done" attitude.

No pandering to the special interest groups.

Definitely not a 'typical' politician. We don't need another one of those!

And I may sound sexist here, but how many times have you seen a mother come into a room full of kids with total chaos reigning and just 'clean house'?

Yeah, I think she can handle the VP spot and handle it well.

Oh, Let's not write McCain off just yet. Even at 72, he's not got one foot in the grave. (so to speak)

Have a great day!

You do know thats a photo of the "overstock . com" chick and not a photo of Sarah Palin, right?
Just checking. . .

Actually, I didn't know that - thanks.

Well, changed that picture, although I never did say that was Sarah Palin, I thought it was - I don't know who the Overstock.com chick is, I am so out of touch with the important things in other worlds.
