Kind of out of the way, into the corner...

Spiders spin webs above it, rust waiting attention, it is getting older and much less useful. That box carried my world of comfort once. Dragged it everywhere I had wheels with room for it. Otherwise I carried in on my back, not this light chest - just the stuff I needed for operating far from home and civilization. Next time you watch a movie with troops with backpacks and gear - just know most of them are padded to look big and heavy - real troops with real weight (seventy-five pounds plus) walk, or waddle differently. Once admired the primitive bushman, he was going to find most of what he needed on the way - but then he wasn't going to be trying to start a fight when he got there.

I was laughing at the comments on Appleseed forum, the number of men that have trouble with their wives or girlfriends not supporting their absences from the home. When I was in the military - all the wives and girlfriends had more other women to support them when we went away. If you remember those many years since Vietnam, most women are in normal America getting on with life - and a few have military spouses or boyfriends, no circle of support if they aren't raised in a military family. So my wife's problem with my work in Appleseed is that her friends don't have husbands or boy friends that are a bit different. Or so I can tell myself, actually, I am probably too different to keep around anyway you look at it. Put me in the corner and allow me to hold memories and rust away.
