Looking over old yearbooks and baby books...

Now I am sure I am really old. Checking my memories while leafing through my baby book. My mother wanted to record it all. The original hospital Birth Certificate - I was "Baby Boy Dungey" at about 6:45 AM, foot print and my mother's right thumb print. From there the paper trail of Earl began. She has a list of the words I spoke by one and a half. First word was 'bye bye'. And I was gone.

In 1954 I entered school at Elm Road School in Warren, Ohio. Was there from 7 September to 5 November when we moved to West Mifflin (Pennsylvania), and I went to Lebanon School (got misoriented going home that day) . First report card said I work well in groups, best subjects Reading and Art. Mother noted I was in the top seven of my class and bothered my teacher because I talk so much. Noted in 1963, still talks too much.

She recorded gifts I received on Christmas for eleven years, the number of Cowboy suits, play guns and toy sets were amazing. 1954 Castle with Knights (Robin Hood or King Arthur?) 1956 the Rin Tin Tin Fort Apache set 1958 I got a Survival Rifle (AR7 by Henry today) it was a plastic toy when I had it, but so cool.

There are lots of Bible School Certificates, Birthday party notes from many years - my first boys and girls party was when I was fifteen, a surprise. In the health record were all the baby shots and when given, when I had three day and nine day measles (temporary hearing loss? no one told me) and chicken pox. Then in April 1966 first motorcycle accident, and then February 1967 second motorcycle accident (near Vero Beach, Florida).

The record of growth is interesting to me, born 8 pounds 11 1/2 oz. length 21 inches, chest is 14 1/2 inches, and the head (= glad you asked) circumference was 15 inches. By six and first grade I was 47 3/4 inches tall, and 48 3/4 pounds. Yeah, I wasn't fat then. Everyone seemed to have a very nice style of penmanship, easy to read. Those were the days?

Earl, be glad you have those, many today have nothing to show their progress through the years...

You could not have left Warren, Ohio before 1955 because I was born in Warren in the spring of 1955. We moved to West Miflin in the fall of 1955. Like Barak Obama, my birth certificate says it all.

Ah, you probably have yours. but I have my mother's written History of Me and she is correct, entering 1st Grade, at six, in 1954 September, going to West Mifflin in November of 1954. Hey, I was there. I graduated in 1966, so maybe I was smart enough to skip a grade? Probably was but maybe my mother had her dates wrong?
