Abstinence works it really does...

Abstinence implies the willful avoidance of pleasures... yep, that it does and it works for me. I am working on this irritation in my mind because of the mainstream media (which haven't a soul nor moral bone in its body) which seem to have Sarah Palin as a target of their wrath. Doing it by pointing out Bristol as proof of foolishly believing in the better behavior of humanity. I wish Bristol and her child all the beauty in love and life possible and I know that she is a much better person than they will ever be.

My mother made me believe in abstinence, there were still virgins at the wedding ceremonies when I was growing up and old, seemed to be fewer each year, but at a certain age I realized that it wasn't as important as love and commitment in a marriage. But I do believe in abstinence -- really it is critical and I want to point it out.

Abstinence is the only cure for addiction to tobacco, drugs and alcohol that ravage one's life - if you don't smoke, drink or shoot up, snort or swallow those things that you will not suffer anything more than better health, and that could be very good.

For me there isn't much more pleasure than a great shot, bullet striking target in exactly the point preferred and planned, and only my practice of Abstinence has allowed flaming fools to survive to be totally stupid another day. Handgun registration, gun control and all the laws in that flaming fools of the Left and Right pass to prevent my potential criminality have no effect on my better behavior - I practice Abstinence in my use of firearms, legality be hanged it will never match my will. I am one of the GOOD GUYS!

And last just for those that assume that Abstinence has to do with SEX, I close with why I don't say anything to that hot young lady over there - between sixteen and twenty-two, American, showing lots of well displayed skin, tasteful tattoo or two, enough makeup for make out, and in general a fine figure of a woman that would arouse my male interest. First, I really think I am one of the GOOD GUYS!, second that young lady could be as young as 13 - my eyes aren't that keen, third that young lady may have taken up a commercial enterprise and I am way too cheap to pay for something I think should be part of romance, fourth the government in its intelligence may have made a policewoman go out of uniform and under the cover to catch sexual solicitors and just general dirty ol' men -- and I am one of the GOOD GUYS! or so I think.

Lastly, I want to thank Gustav Klimt for his art and appreciation of the beauty of women --- and for not being my model of better male behavior. He was a very fine artist.

So you did remember 19 April, 1775, yesterday?

The day the people of Massachusetts got very serious about restoring their rights to govern themselves, very serious. You can Google it, and the Wikipedia covers it a bit, but don't go to most American High Schools for any detail, go to your libraries and know they wrote books differently in the 18th and 19th Century about which we continue to write about in the 21st Century. It must have been important and my question is where would you have been on that day?

Today is the Boston Marathon, and since I am on the West Coast and three hours back from the East except on Mainstream Media (tape delay with Live printed on it), it should be starting soon. It was once on the same day as the celebration of Patriot's Day, the 19th, but the race got more important than the day and so was placed for coverage, advantage and tourist bucks. More people KNOW about the Boston Marathon than the 19th of April, 1775, but that is how the world works. It is still one of my un-run marathons, but I would be so far back that the support crews would be sweeping the chutes up and packing the timing machines by the time I got in. It would be more interesting to walk from Charleston, to Lexington, to Concord, the North Bridge, and back to Meriam's Corner, to Parker's Revenge, through Lexington (again!) to Charleston and safety, but following those poor British flankers tracks would wear me out, but it could be done in a couple days well. Seems the military is always cursed with LONG interesting days.

I find returning home after time spent on the ranges with shooting stuff doesn't cure me of my addiction to finding out how the normal people of the world are behaving. Looking for email about my far-flung family relations and relations that are only friendly is justified but most other things, can wait for my devotions, exercises, sweating, cleaning up and going to work. It is Monday and the Library calls. My second PC is spinning and chirping at me, and I thought it was using electricity for power - it couldn't be wind up, could it?

Gun News and then back to battle... long ago...

I did watch Diane Sawyer and her co-host presenting a show "If I only had a Gun", and I don't think she is going to carry a gun any time soon. She wants to protect those children that she won't teach to behave from having drugs, poisons, prescription drugs, guns and damn fool stunts watched on other media that children seem to want to copy and improve on; "Fast and Furious" anyone?

I had one of the inmate workers look up causes of death in the United States - and firearms were not the leading reason children die, but they do seem to be something the government should be able to control. The government can't control illegal immigration, alcohol and drug abuse, can't stop murder by other means (not of firearms), illegal gambling, tax evasion, rape, child rape, arson and a few other crimes against people and property, but somehow the media believes that the government can control firearms. Our government can't even protect us from its agents when they decide to kill everything that moves and let God sort them out. Not often moral is our government, but then government isn't a being with a soul and a real relationship with God.

Ah, well, ABC News is related to Time magazine and Disney, they do live in a fantasy world and this was supposed to be a real test of what would happen if.. isn't this the network that does Super Nanny? - and I know my son never lacked for rules, reasons and care - what is going on in America? Are there any responsible adults out there?

Teach a chosen few how to handle a pistol, give them a pistol to conceal (?) put them in a classroom of undercover (working for ABC) folks and bring in a bad guy to kill them all. The bad guy knows where the cameras are, which of the folks has the gun and that he has to take out, the tested person has to pull the gun that they think is loaded with something that won't kill and take out the bad guy (which is not really a surprise! today you are going to die scenario - but closer than I practice). Okay, and they did get the results they wanted, no one was able to survive the attack or kill the attacker. They didn't put everyone in the classroom without a gun and see how many survived, but that wasn't what the show was about.

The show was designed to convince the Oprah crowd that carrying a firearm for your own defense won't work - you aren't good enough, don't train enough and the killers always have to win so we can sell advertising time on television so we get rich and you are just another victim - of so many things that you should fear... hmm, that last must all be mine. Yep, my errant thoughts have intruded. I have always said, I did all my killing in cold blood and tried to teach that, but not being in the killing business now I don't mention that, I do stress that emptiness and becoming one with the weapon, the target and the moment will work - but that is Zen and y'all are anxious Americans, always in a hurry to get to the point you can never reach. Take care out there, go gently, focusing front sight on target, squeeze. Diane Sawyer can't hit with her own skill set and production team, but then we did watch the last election didn't we?

Comment from other blogs: One Sensible Progressive Tam's Recommendation John the Texaner

I watched Zulu this morning, cough lingers, I drink more liquid and wonder if it is time for Cromwell; what do men fight for, what is the cost and what is freedom - standing on your own and doing the best you can for all that you love, works for me.

Yes I know it is election day but...

I don't want a media circus using my interest to pump me full of their ad time, I don't want to think that commercials today cost almost as much as the Superbowl. I don't want to know anything about the election exit polling and predictions. I still remember Peter Jennings reporting Florida three different ways in one evening, and it took the Supreme Court to finally decide that issue.

Since no one is paying attention to me, the law should be that the media may not engage in prophecy on election day - no predictions of the winner, no reporting of the results until the last polling place closes as far to the West as that is - Hawaii gets four electoral votes, Alaska three and those seven could be all that matters. And only the votes counted - not any exit poll junk numbers, and stop using percentages - one candidate gets ten votes, one gets five - I don't want to know that the first has a hundred percent lead - I want to know one had ten and one has five. The voters don't need discouraged by MSM. Actually, the only two things that should be allowed to be reported - where the polling places are, and any emergency reaction teams for fires, floods and avalanches. And then I would also like the television and cable companies to have NO Commercials the entire day. Call it a tax that doesn't enrich anyone save for the silence - nice nature pictures and mood music might be nice.

Well, have a great voting day, the three from this home are cast and probably counted, and although Washington seems to be a BLUE state (who picked that color?) the Democratic Governess was reported to be behind in early voting - by a Republican sympathetic newspaper, strange days and stranger ways. Where is Guy Fawkes Day? Can't get here soon enough.

An aside, the picture is from my better past - many of those young people became just fine citizens of note, and many of them were members of the Junior High Rifle Club and shot targets down in the High School gymnasium. That small difference is probably only part of the reason the Nation is no longer as wonderful as I remember it then - but put the guns back into the schools, it would make me happy and I know there are some young men and women that would love to engage targets for score, one bullet at a time...

Good Morning America!

I will admit to making a mistake - I turned on the television to eat breakfast by - and found the flurry over a young woman's pregnancy and the Media's take that this is of National Significance. Don't worry about Red China and Taiwan, don't even think Russia might be more Superpower than we would like, don't think that our wounded Vets become more alone the farther they get from their units and other vets. Nope, just worry about Abstinence Education versus Sex Education and what happens, and who know when and why weren't we told.

The media wasn't told because they don't have any idea what makes great Presidents, just which pictures and news will sell advertising time. They gloss over the Democrat's Attack Blog that started the rumors. Personally, I know I never had sex education and my mother insisted on Abstinence, although she will admit that her own last pregnancy was not planned but very welcome. Anyway, I am not the model of propriety and am not holding myself up to be followed but I am certain having become disgusted with this morning's brain mold slime from the media - they haven't a clue about the Presidency, what is important and who is qualified for the office. They do know how to sell products that one hardly ever needs.

I spent Labor Day trying to get started on the last quarter of the year. Just think, I am so far behind I need help catching up. I finish the evening ironing the clothes, my mother taught me well when I was in high school, of course, we don't sprinkle anymore since we have steam and surge irons and permanent press. I did get mailings and bill payings prepared, need to find a notary for the CMP paperwork - the M1 is in the works, after I send it out I just wait for delivery. My wife and I rolled coins and counted bills from the donations at the coffee stop, I think I need to stop being United Methodist Men's Treasurer next year - my personal books are six months behind - and my wife told me three times to wash my hands because of how dirty the money was and one never knows where it has been. Yes, dear. Actually I don't do 'Yes, Dear" I do "Ney, Yobo"

Well, back to going to make the world a better place for prisoners, churches, people in general and those wonderful women that have loved and bring forth the better future in their babies.

As I watched the media influence me for meds...

The news is on, it is Sunday, and I find the US Supreme Court is going to decide if the Second Amendent is an individual or collective right. I am betting the US Supreme Court already knows the answer to that question, and what they will be deciding is how to make it other than it really is because guns in the hands of law abiding citizens might be dangerous - they had an expert testifying to America that a gun in the house was twenty-two percent more likely to harm one of the family than bad guys. Yep, that kind of expert -- the one that they didn't ask how many guns are there in the United States, how many have been used in harming any humans, and what is that percentage of the total lawfully held. They never ask that, and the media didn't want you to think you should read the Constitution yourself, you do read it every year don't you, but that the learned justices must read the English language of the late 18th Century and tell you what the Founding Fathers really meant or how they couldn't have foreseen. It isn't Latin or Greek, folks, just English.

Okay, you think the media is reporting the question of firearms fairly, well, they followed with a story about doing away with the penny because it costs more than a penny to produce. Almost two cents per penny. So sway you to that side, get rid of the penny. I guess I won't get rich picking them up on my jogs, but do they tell you that the DOLLAR doesn't buy anything like it once did, that it has been steadily sinking in VALUE the last ten years? No, they want you to believe that it will be cared for by the Federal Reserve Bank and the Secretary of the Treasury. But if the Dollar were worth what it was in 1998, making a penny wouldn't cost one cent, it would cost less. What is truth? Why would I buy any medications advertised on television shows that don't really tell me the whole truth? Because I am old, gulible and plain old stupid? Well, maybe one day but not today and probably not on Tuesday when the Supreme Court deliberates about something even I read and do understand.

One of the stories I did like hearing prior to America's invasion and conquest or liberation of Iraq from Saddam, was that Saddam was about to start selling oil for Euros. Couldn't have been much truth to that, but it might have made American interests upset that another currency might share position as a standard. But then I like conspiracies unproven, and other fictions.
