How was your weekend?

A little snow and rain here, lots of freezing temperatures and Earl stayed on the virtual farm. I did see some of Sons of Guns, I didn't bother with the Oscars - although I do wish them all well, know they did a good job, and hope they had a good time without me. Yeah, they have no idea I am even alive. Am still reading Bloodlands, next time you tell me that government is good and rules are needed, I will snarl internally - it is just like guns - government is only good if the people in government are GOOD, moral and hard working.

In the Appleseed World, which I only get to view from my monitor. Lewiston, Idaho, Racine, Wisconsin, Colebrook, CT (don't know how to spell that), Myakka City, Florida, Bakersfield, California, Lapeer, Michigan.

You get the idea, end of February, from coast to coast, no matter the weather. Get out there and shoot and honor the Heritage!

Almost time for Sunday Morning on CBS, here...

Lost my wife to tossing and turning and coughing... I was overwhelmed by dreams of virtual worlds. Time to get off the computer when you find it following you to bed, there must be reality out there somewhere. Took the pictures of my Bed and Breakfast Farm on FarmVille, ten of them - eight places to stay. Get a real life, Earl. When you start to write advertising copy for the wonders of cyberspaces for rent... well, they will talk about you. My gambling addiction trying to get the Dexter Cow is amazing in that it mimics exactly what happens with slot machines and just one more. Well, I did write three checks, weighed and measured and am not in love with myself, my virtual self on the farm is so much prettier than the real me. End of February is almost here, I have been to Hawaii and seen my family there, I have been back here, snow on the ground and temperature still not above freezing and the rains are coming, sigh.

Just to be a little more unrealistic, all the Gun Guys and Gals should join the Democratic Party for confusion to the Gun Control Groups... but then that would make you think I believe that all Democrats are anti-gun, and I am so much smarter than that. Time to shut this down.

When you want to see yourself as others see you.

I did a quick video of me, and all I was looking for was that guy that everyone is afraid of, you know the Concealed Carry Permitted that is going to shoot it out with the guys at the OK Corral (which I don't think I would have been there - I would have been reading a book or shoveling street apples). Yep, I was going to drive my wife to her work on post, and that is one of those "No Concealed Carry permitted by order of the Commander" areas in my life. Which means you can carry openly? Nah, I don't think so, they probably have a rule about carrying a firearm, while not in uniform, and its condition. I don't even want to get into all the rules, there are too many, but they do give you a sign that tells you that they don't permit something. Sure enough, they checked my wife's and my ID at the gate and waved us in, could have searched the vehicle if they wanted, it has lots of ammunition, targets and survival, combat, camping gear and snacks. Anyway, I was successful in delivering my wife, her potluck salad, and stuff to the Childcare Center where she works - without shooting up anyone. Of course it was because I wasn't carrying a firearm, there had been a sign on the road.

I couldn't tell you I was carrying, one of the rules about having a Concealed Carry Permit in the fine State of Washington where I got mine, is that I am not to tell anyone that I am carrying concealed - that does make sense, really. If I tell someone that I have a concealed firearm - it isn't concealed any longer and becomes a threat to everyone that sees it. I don't know if librarians would be happy to see me, I am in that retirement mode, not mattering if I put my teeth in, shave or polish my shoes (I was wearing Rubber Mucking boots) so I wasn't too beautiful, but then I had showered and shampoo'd. Breda would tolerate me, I am a quiet book browser, all my computer time is at home unless on the road where public libraries and public access ROCK!

In our conversation on the way, my wife and I discussed many things. One of the things I latched upon was that I value time more now than dollars. There was a day when dollars needed counting and investing and saving, now time is critical. That life style of retirement, Every Day is Saturday except Sunday, is not shaving, wearing sweatsuits, drinking your favorite beverages in front of the boobtube and hoping that something exciting will happen after enduring the four minutes of commercial interruption... Time, there isn't enough, the Rich have it all and they aren't sharing enough with the poor folks. When I told my wife how much our grandson owes in taxes when he can't say nor conceive the word yet - there must be something wrong.

Nah, there couldn't be, notice in the picture it may be cold but that Sun is shining and my sidewalk and drive were cleaned up yesterday.

Woke up after a solid ten to seven sleep, great!

Thanks for the time, opinions, and positive nature in which you responded. MUCH appreciated! :)

Hmm, nice response to my and other's nice responses. Positive nature -- doesn't that seem like a change from the UNCIVIL nastiness out there in television land and on the internet, in the lines at the gas pumps, in the wait for your drink at the bar...

My life on FarmVille is just endlessly fascinating... my only rule is I don't pay real dollars for virtual toys, and as long as it is free I will play to help my neighbors, build a wonderfully amusing life I have never lived. I was tempted to buy the Magic Waterfall for my Fairytale Fantasy corner of the farm. As I put up various homes for visitors I keep thinking I am building a bed and breakfast farm. I finally got a free tree house, the Leprechaun's Cottage, and put it in my Irish cottage place. Although I thought a small stone with thatch roof was more an Irish cottage. Some days I think FarmVille is just like John Wayne movies - entertaining but much too clean and politically correct. Have to go to one of my war games or violent videos for a dose of ugly reality.

Speaking of which, I have not started Bloodlands and Tam has finished hers, I am still working through the author's 20th Century opinion of an 18th Century's young man on his first war and his constant climb up the ladder and away from his mother, but always caring for his family and friends. NFO will have to bite his tongue if he ever starts that book, or put it down and go find something to sooth the savage in himself like I do. I have never liked reading of war by those that didn't go, by those that didn't have an investment in the outcome. Tam comes out and offers her next read: Human Smoke: The Beginnings of World War II, the End of Civilization. Looks like another must read. I am sure that those inside the civilization and culture do not understand everything going on around them, reality being ninety percent perception, and ten percent totally misunderstood or not noticed at all.

Elected, selected, evolved leadership in the world brought you WWI, WWII and the continuing mess we are in. Just because we aren't nuking the neighbors because they are Godless Communists (Cuba, China, Vietnam and North Korea come to mind) doesn't mean we have prevented untold suffering and injustice nor helped them make their world a better place to be in. And for all you GUN CONTROL fools out there, remember waiting on the US NAVY or anyone else to help you when meeting with unlawful gun toting pirates (who are only trying to improve their station in life) then you must depend on the LORD for your salvation, which I do believe is a great thing, and be satisfied that you died on earth for your belief in a better place that has been prepared for you. Now the rest of us humans had better look around and work on making something nice out of the PC pig's ear. Oops! that should be a 'Pig's Era'.

Not much happening here...

It has been lightly snowing, which for those that have real snows wouldn't be a problem. I drove my wife to work and all yesterday, had to come back early since the post closed for weather fears. I have a medical test appointment at 11, no problem. The height of laziness, I seem to be waiting for the next snowstorm before I go to shovel off the drive and sidewalks. It is too cold for melt, removal is back to back breaking heart shaking Manuel labor.
No, I don't hire it done, trying to keep up with Tam.

Got to do this quick...

The End of the World As We Knew It, is coming more rapidly than I am Aging.

Seriously, it is on the way. How do I know, because the signs are all around me and other bloggers are talking about how prepared they are, or aren't. I think the largest sign of complete collapse is the desire of children to have the government take care of them. Really, when showing you have a piece of paper means you can teach, doctor, nurse, fight, are safe from the spousal abuser -- well, you have achieved what I have on my computer with a multi-trillion dollar hook-up with a GAME - nothing of permanence, only valuable for play (which is important) which won't build or re-build CIVILIZATION (which is another computer game). Adults go out and live and work and build their little piece of the world, but there seem to be more children. One should work on their own retirement (and I think dying in the traces is best). Now, I do think that many people will curl up and die in the darkest safest place they can find. But there are many that will just adapt and overcome, and some one from the government will be by to help you, tax you and try to make you dependent again... or else. Or, if they really don't get it in Washington, DC. there will be one of the largest die offs there, and some wandering bandits, mercenaries or bad boys will be by to help themselves. But most of you are armed and think you are dangerous.

I am spending too much time on the French and Indian War era, people did a lot for themselves in those days, but many died when cut off from civilization. Remember, families that raise children, neighbors that help each other, communities that have good rules for getting along, and lots of work for everyone. What did they once call obsolete computers? A door stop? Oh, and make sure you wash your hands.

Before I go sweat burning calories...

Unions are important for the workers to have a voice in their job. BUT, the Union can never own the positions, those belong to the employer and the employer decides who to hire. Anything else is thuggery, beating people up, shooting them and such. Just look at the HISTORY of the union movement, there was a real need, they joined a front for confrontation. It was never about providing skilled labor to an employer, it has always been about conflict. Sometimes the bosses need to have their nose flattened for foolishness, but if they can't keep happy employees, they will be out of business or out of the country quick. Unions are run on a business model, two competing unions trying to provide the best employees, they run on the gangster model, this is MY territory and we defend it. So Right to Work states will continue to attract business and those where the Union is protected from competition (slavery by management and the union bosses). I did belong to a union, for job requirement, and went to some meetings and saw the thugs - really, I have been in prison and in real life, I know what a thug looks like and what the job requirements are. They were thugs.

There are enough non-union teachers in the world that if the jobs aren't locked into the contract by the union, you could always hire better ones from other sources. One of Abraham Lincoln's or Frederick Douglass's, if they were still alive.

Ask the unions in Washington State why part of Boeing production is now in South Carolina. But States and Nations do it, too. They attract business with profitable laws, and tax forgiveness then are dismayed when the business goes elsewhere as they decide they want more of what they didn't earn themselves. Off shore banking anyone?

Well, I woke from one of my military dreams (must have been the glass of wine last night). But I was a hotshot Sergeant Major out in the field, sneaking and peeping with my force, when some strange untrained and unqualified ones were operating in our area, and they didn't see us (my story and WE were good!). Anyway, this part of the dream was real enough, been there and have definitely done that - but then it got strange, seems all the Generals were at a meeting, highly secured area about something. Being a total fool, I decided to see what I could find. And I found them, didn't get inside but close enough to know they were not up to something I could support - never has mattered about the rank, I was more a follow the Man kind of guy. And I have Historic proof that even an Emperor is only a Corporal gone great.

Anyway, the gist of the dream was they had gotten together to put the Republic back in order by tearing the present mess apart and allowing the media and agitators to rebuild it while they watched from the high ground. Which, I, even in my warm comforter in cold night sleep knew would never work. Only in Egypt would such foolishness be lauded as wonderful. My question for the officers that thought the Eighty-deuce should go secure Washington during the end of Nixon's reign "Are we on the side of the Congress or the President?" No answer... which was good, there were other things in the world to prepare for.

Declining years...

One of the realities of life, as one RAPIDLY AGES (one of the remaining things done rapidly - everything else is slow and smooth) is you are now known as being in your declining years... of life. Not much left of it. Sigh...

I want to blame the doctors and their pills, but I was the one that thought my heart troubles were way over due and the blood pressure wasn't coming down on its own. Then after a couple of years of medicine my thyroid quits, I want to blame the pills but then I started taking a supplement, which had to be increased, which is all part of one decline - and INCREASE in the number of medications, sigh. Now they want to thin my blood... sure they do. Still no sign of what is going to kill me, but we will find it and have something to do about it. Really, we will, me and the doctors.

During my teens and twenties I was sure I wouldn't live beyond forty - I was in a dangerous business and the country couldn't find a way out of stupidity. I am no longer in the dangerous business but the country still can't find a way out of stupidity. I do realize that Washington DC doesn't understand old Nursery Rhymes: Humpty Dumpty, Goose that lays the Golden Eggs, Contest between the Sun and the Wind.

Anyway, I am spending too much time in mindless entertainment between doctor visits, time to get the Trusty Triumph back on the road, and ride all those Motorcycle Touring (ways) in the Pacific Northwest (my brother sent it too me, too cool). I sent all my extra Appleseed stuff to those that are carrying on, still hope the world goes to a couple weekend Appleseeds and gets their two days worth, and continues to perfect their longer range shooting experiences. Not for war, nor in fear of the government, but just to be really in control of their own moment, their rifle and the target. It is wonderful to be in reality.

So on the health issues side, I decline. to accept less than I should be able to be. What? Forty more good years? Sure, one hundred and three sounds like a winner. I hope I am a bit like George Burns, cigars and bouncing beautiful women that he doesn't feel responsible for... but enjoys seeing anyhow. No, I decline to smoke, don't want the Federal government to get anymore of my money than I have to give up for breathing. I am paying for free air in America? What is the reason I pay taxes? Oh, I make too much money, if I were poorer I would be given more money - and that makes good sense? I decline....

It is all in the name of whatever...

I have just finished reading "THE RULING CLASS: How they corrupted America and what we can do about it" by Angelo M. Codevilla. It did tell me that I was correct Abraham Lincoln would not recognize the Republican Party, and that I was also right about the Republicans aren't really any different than the Democrats. All those elected to represent us in Washington, and those they select again later (Supreme Court) are different than me and you. They are the elite, the intelligentsia, the RULERS by which all things are measured and found wanting. They think they are the only adults in the country. And they do know what the Constitution has laid out, but ignore it whenever it suits them. Sigh, but we knew that already, didn't we?

The author needed a name for the rest of the unwashed masses, so decides to call us the Country Class, and I am sure it doesn't have to do with Country Music, just wanted to call us something that wasn't RULING CLASS. Well, I like Native, Folk, and I really love being called THE PEOPLE - and those serving in office aren't The People.

Those in charge aren't on my side, for example this story. Mother of three Yes, I do believe that the Law Enforcement Officers stole money from her, abused her vocally and physically and are sure they will never be punished for it. Here in Seattle, such an almost disarmed city, the Police shot a wood carver for not responding to AUTHORITY, and the PROSECUTOR is not filing charges, because someone has to keep the common folk down. And no CIVIL RIGHTS seem to be violated for the Federal enforcement. Sigh probably all Democrats.

Ah, well, I like being one of THE PEOPLE, but call me Earl and don't send any police help in my direction. Too old to be worthy, and certainly too poor. I pay taxes.

Long ago when I thought I was a real man...

Manliness, Kim Du Toit wrote about the change of the Male in Western Civilization, I won't use his words, he didn't mince them but I found this worth reading and sharing, Art of Manliness.

I wish this writer well, hope he can keep the Republic or Democracy that he was willing to stand guard and march for, armed with hunting knife and hatchet. Do pay attention to what worked -- solitary heroes are for comic books. One of the female reporters trying to get to the head of her profession and thinking the Press would protect her got separated from her party and abused about as badly as you could get in a public protest area... I do hope she recovers well, covering the News isn't as glamorous as she once was.

Numbers and books, caught somehere between...

I am getting close to finishing the Quicken program and finding out how deep into debt I am, not counting what the politicians think I owe the government. But I had to go out and get medicine and stop at the local library. On my way home I saw my wife driving off to her work.

In the mailbox was the normal advertisements and one official letter from GE Money Bank, Creditor for my wife. So I opened it and found she had applied for credit with JC Penny - while on a shopping trip with a friend. They, the store and her friend lured her into that with promises of a discount for what she was buying. What I found interesting was that her request could not be approved at this time. I know she carries more cash than what she was buying, has more in her savings than she NEEDS, but it is hers. And finally I know that I am probably good for anything she can't handle if she wants or needs it.

Well, that credit scoring system has determined she did not score well compared with other applicants. The CREDIT BUREAU REPORTS APPLICANT IS DECEASED, is there a lawyer out there that wants to sue somebody with money - the business is giving me pain and suffering like I can never stand.

If it were important or my wife has to go to the LORD now because of this, I will be looking for a building or two to blow up. I figure this is just another attempt to make old people afraid of the world of finance, and this fine company would love to help us out. My wife will miss me when I am gone. Yes, she will.

On a more positive note, although blowing buildings up is mostly a happy thing for me, I did get some reading at the library.

"The Ruling Class: How They Corrupted America and What We can do about it"
by Angelo M. Codevilla

"HAIKU" by Andrew Vachss

"The Crack in the Lens" by Steve Hockensmith

"Children No More" by Mark L. Vane Name

"George Washington's FIRST WAR: His early Military Adventures" by David Clary

"BLOODLANDS : Europe Between Hitler and Stalin" by Timothy Snyder

Should be able to get them at your library, but then you don't read what I do, do you?

Of course she will never know, she doesn't follow...

my blog.

But it is Valentine's Day, and I have to be a special Valentine for the only one who cares enough to send the very best. Forty-three years since being introduced in a neutral setting, next month thirty-nine years of being very married. Certainly a significant worthy effort, and would do it again sooner and expect we will in another life. Go out and love somebody, the only thing better is being loved in return.

Fat is not bad for you, in a regular diet...

Everyone has opinions, even when they don't voice them they still have opinions. One of the American myths, there is an engineering or technical way to overcome all the obstacles in one's path. Modern medicine dressed the medicine show up and took the references to Medicine Man Joe's snake oil off the bottles and now have a pill or other remedy for being a poor specimen of humanity. Luckily I lived quickly through my cute and handsome phases so I have no hope of ever being sexy. Now I just want to keep breathing and mobile.

I never thought much in most of my life about carrying a pistol or revolver, always had a knife and until recently (last thirty years or so) it was never considered first as a weapon, always was a tool in the pocket of a responsible adult male, the size depended on what he was going to do with it. Pen knives once sharpened writing quills, honest. Yes, for you sexists out there, women can carry knives - but normally don't, I still remember my mother looking at me at a luau and asking for my knife, and my brother's shock that I had one (we had flown through security). But the pistol can be good to have, to shoot and such. A complaint about the old Colt .45, was missing the point, it wasn't a long distance shooter, it was for getting to your rifle (thanks Kim!) and I was always sure with my Army pistol I could club someone to death if I had run out of bullets and options. Just like a hammer.

I don't do much competition shooting, but the one time I did I shot a Browning Challenger against a Doctor with a fine target pistol (I don't know what it was, it had weights and stuff) and he had funny shooting glasses, and I beat him twice, not by too much, but enough for those two competitions. Technology and engineering didn't help him enough, needed to learn more about shooting - says the guy that hadn't shot pistol that much at all. So brash was I at all of thirty, still a youthful fool and a Drill Sergeant.

As the gun control fools got out of hand during that thirty year period, more and more people are arming themselves. I don't care, but do see that one seems to feed the other. So I have two more pistols than I NEED. Concealed carry got way bigger than it ever needed to be, but maybe the government really feels better when they have police run a plate or a name in their data base and know that the person may be armed and dangerous. You can knock on my door and I won't confront you with a pistol. The missionaries, magazine selling pre-teens and door to door sales do; they have all walked away alive, with my hope that the Lord blesses their best.

But the opinion thing is why I thought about Farmer Frank's post about the Army searching for a new rifle. Abraham Lincoln can tell you about all the efforts during his Presidency to get better rifles to the soldiers, General George Washington wanted trained soldiers and enough to feed them, he figured they came with muskets and powder. I have my opinion about the Army's rifle, and all personal weapons. I was a proud trained infantry Rifleman in August of 1967, the M14 was the rifle of my training. I only disliked the twenty round box magazines. I thought they got in the way, and I was correct about that. It shot well, I hit the targets out there, way out there and that made me happy. Then improvement showed up for fighting in the jungle against the elusive (until he wanted found) enemy. So the M16, it had some problems but my only objection was that when I ran out of ammunition I didn't feel I could beat the enemy to death with that light piece of plastic - and no, I never tried to either. I just know that bayonet training changed because others didn't feel the rifle could survive that abuse.

Now the M4 is the current rifle, and my son, that admits he wishes he had more training in marksmanship, likes the shorter shooter, for vehicles and urban terrain and not too many targets over fifty yards away. My personal choice is the M1 Garand, and would be if I were in the Army again, but they have lots of young healthy fools and don't need me now. As I get more time in shooting the rifle, and learning about it, I am happier and happier. In the end you need the tools that work for you and the jobs you have in front of you, and most important that the Army always forgot to do for improved marksmanship, is invest time and ammunition in training, practice and qualification. They will kick out cans and cans of ammunition for when you have to fight, but don't really emphasize the marksmanship before battle. I know I spent more time marching beautifully in formations than I ever did shooting, and I liked to shoot.

Just an opinion, more bullets fired badly in full auto, are probably more bullets missing the target - but you could frighten him... I still like one story from the Korean War, a company was attacking and were told they would be out numbered five to one, and one of the officers during the attack saw one of his privates sitting smoking a cigarette like he was taking a break. When confronting the soldier he was surprised by the response "I got my five." I would take a dozen like that one, please.

When I was of the position to have any and all the weapons I wanted to carry into training and combat, I added an M16A2 to my M9 pistol. I jumped with them in training, carried them around in the vehicle and field exercises. And shot them as much as I possibly could for my proficiency with them. Of course, I never got to shoot those in Iraq. There was a whole Falcon Brigade of fine Airborne Infantry between me and the few dangerous fools that the Air Force hadn't flattened and burned up before we invaded.

Just remember, that buying the outfit, getting the extra dollars worth, and such will not make you more dangerous than the fellow with the 19th Century rifle that his great grandfather gave him to shoot wolves with... cause there aren't any wolves left where he has been herding, now.

What is that title of that special position?

You know, the guy or gal that decides where to interrupt your show/movie/entertainment for the opportunity to change your mind about buying something you decided you don't need - already. What is the official title? Also who is counting how much real news is reported, some of the news is a sneaky way to sell you a program you didn't know you wanted to see - a commercial. How much money could you have, if you never bought a television for cable, satellite or antenna? Really, where would your life be if you turned it all off and only used the internet and DVDs? Someone out there should write a book about it. And offer it on Kindle.

Just thinkin'

North Korea is going to fall very apart when the old man dies soon. The young heir apparent isn't from the rest of the governing class - he spent his time at schools and adventures outside the country. Koreans are very locked into class, racial and school ties. When they do overthrows of government it is usually a tight knit group of school chums. Remember you read it here first. Why is that? Because my television gets more than the people in the streets of Egypt. Haven't personally worried about that country since 1973 and the possibility of jumping against seven Soviet Divisions of paratroopers.

you have to address those issues, NOW

The NBC news reports that the President had a troubling Health Habit, hmmm... I thought smoking was an UNhealthy habit, having my own struggle with the Chesterfields, Lucky Strikes, Pall Malls, and my very favorite the Marlboro. So long ago and far away, almost forty years of being smarter than the Tobacco Giants. There wouldn't be a drug problem nor War on Drugs - if everyone used as much as I do...

I went to the garage to work on the battery power for my Trusty Triumph, took everything apart well, I will report when I am on the road, or just send y'all a picture, I understand it is still snowing out there, and COLD. Take care...

The picture was my newest surprise in the garage, my wife continues to revert to a kinder and gentler country woman life and it is a nice feeling, her mother once hung them up for drying and preserving... don't worry about knowing what they are, my son and I have always gotten the best of the Korean kitchen and only have to grind pepper and turn soil for our share.

My lucky day...

My missing knives from the airport security of 19 January, have shown up in my mail box, they are still sharp, thank you Airport Mailers, Inc. And a Cheaper Than Dirt catalog with pink pistol and pocket lock blade, in case one doesn't know what to get that lady in his life.

I know what they really mean...

Rapidly Aging is right there behind Death by Recliner, I didn't wake up until 7:45 PST, must have been tired.

I would like to propose a law that no Democrat nor Republican may bear arms in the United States of America, they aren't adult enough, sane enough, mature enough nor polite enough. Those not affiliated need the label of 'can take care of them, by self' so they can make their own decision. But ZERO tolerance for armed political parties - they harken back to different colored shirts and armies of ancient history and that is dangerous to stray dogs and little children.

The reason fine cities like New York, San Francisco, Chicago have restrictions on guns has to do with the protective city fathers (and mother-hens)that know all their people are still little children. Failure of the education system?

I have my own opinion about child raising, tempered by my good wife's touch, and I know that I can safely own and have firearms with children around, but I have to work at it. My own work schedule, child's life and priorities met that he says he could learn a little more about shooting now (over thirty-three) but I have the time, now he has the work schedule problems. Golfing and skating are good for him but I like the Triathelons best.

The SuperBowl is today... but who are those other...

Excuse me, I am a bit disoriented, saw a Woodland Camo uniform hanging on a door knob and my name is on it, but not my badges nor war party... US Navy, oh, just my son's. I am reminded they are three camo improvements since I retired, and the new Army digital is great (although I haven't seen it) but the Navy's is really dark. It isn't the same military, he shoots rifles at fifty yards for urban and jungle operations, I think the farther the better.
I was hanging around the Air Force, C17s (a newer bird than my jump history) and was interested to see the size, the electric plug outlets, the number of personal tech toys for entertainment, the airmen taking bicycles to their next exercise areas. I rode out and back with a young soldier, they are all young now, our schedules fit in both directions. I once had my hair cut that close. Going I didn't sleep hard, but coming home I stretched out and dreamed. On the way back I sat beside another old guy - jogging shoes, levis, jacket and Air Force polo shirt, he was reading a Kindle and I wanted to know about what he thought, so he took the time to hand it to me and answer my questions, laugh about the pink purse he carried it in (it was a gift for his wife). As we landed a LTC came back to talk to him (note to self, this was someone important to the Air Force). We all packed up, cleaned up the trash and unloaded to ride to the terminal, there was a special van waiting for him, which he didn't take but thanked the driver (yep, one of the good ones). At the terminal he stopped to talk to one of the women passengers, and told her what he had found out or set up in Tacoma for one of her needs, yep, one of the good ones. I left with my bags and the young soldier asked where I was headed, and I asked where he needed to go. I was following a good example, my father's. Took him home.
Yes, the television is on the SuperBowl, I am not a godless communist and I have hopes that the game will be great. But I don't need the sound on for commercial interruptions, or mindless commentators - I can tell when they are playing great ball. My grandson will end up playing soccer then he will be a potential rugby player, although we don't do that sport justice in the US. When listening to his parents about his future education the foreign language came up, my son thinks he will get more out of Mandarin than Japanese or Korean, and disregard all the European ones. He isn't really talking, but he is building his vocabulary for when he gets done playing with his tongue out. He communicates well with his parents using simple sign language - which my wife knows a little of from her work in Childcare, I don't know enough - but if he wants my attention a full body slam works.

Speed is relative...

Twelve hours from leaving my home to my son's home. 4:16 AM here, and I am not going to wake anyone up. They will be having alarms enough soon. More later... or maybe I will just enjoy myself here and watch everyone else have weather challenges.

Every day is Saturday, except Sunday...

I watched the update program about one of the television reporters, long time and well liked but with brain cancer. And the doctors have been fighting it with her for years, but half her face has fallen. You know human beings have a wonderful vocabulary, but more communication about how a person really feels comes from their face, when I say I want to see a smile all the way into the eyes and into the heart - it is because I can read your face, which is the window towards your soul. If the nerves controlling half your face are broken, cut, destroyed or just on strike - Gravity rules. Half your face is no longer under your control and although you really still are there, the message isn't getting out. Two things happen, one's idea of themselves is shattered, until the new reality becomes the new you. And those around you are uncomfortable, they would almost rather you put a mask on to HIDE your DEFORMITY!!@! Which it is not, but humans that don't love enough nor think outside the box - they all believe that everyone is the same and those that aren't are the enemy, strangers, or to be pitied. They, as you, are to be loved and lived with - we know there isn't much room for ugly in Hollywood, but the rest of the world isn't there - just entertained by the beautiful people.

China as a Rapidly Aging population, all those that survived the Communist Revolutions. Come to think of it, America has a RAPIDLY AGING population, I have come to realize that I am one of them - shock for someone so young so long, I am ancient! or working on it. And since I feel I am doing so much (or so little) so slowly anymore - why is this label "Rapidly Aging" slapped upon my face? Got to be able to do something faster than the neighbors?

Year of the Rabbit, yep, we did not take advantage of the Tiger and now, thanks to the New Moon and Ground Hog day, are going into the year of the Rabbit. The bunnies are under ice and snow, so the Ground Hog (having little sense) is coming out to find his shadow is missing.... two more years of Global Warming. I am getting tired of the same fearful messages in the weather reporting, less emotion and adjectives and adverbs, please. Remember when all this icy cold stuff stops, floods happen from the meltdown, yep, get to high ground.

Too many 'yep's' today, go find the morning coffee. I do notice that traditional Korean dress, gets updated and such every year - how much of a tradition is that? Now that old black suit of grandfather's in the attic, now that was a tradition that didn't change during all those years. Hmmm, since I am a grandfather is that why I haven't purchased a suit for years? Get new jeans oftener... yeah, I know.

A New Day, some porno promoting computer finds...

Appleseed forum, of course. I know that computers are as smart as they are programmed to be, so I won't blame the machines for spitting out opportunities to feel lesser.

I am carrying already, figured that I should be ready for the rioting in the streets with the continuing unemployment, the rich getting richer and the poor barely hanging on, it just isn't safe anywhere anymore... oh, that is in far off Egypt - all that money we poured to keep them fat and happy doesn't seem to have worked. Well, pull the plug on that NOW! Washington DC will likely say that it is complicated, but the Egyptian Army isn't desiring to attack Israel anytime soon, and Israel is always gearing up for more stupidity on the part of their enemies and their few friends.

I do like the pictures of the security forces in the neighborhoods. Gosh, turn the TV off and go control access to the neighborhood for Momma. See, the gangs are good... well, not our kind of gangs although the Sharks and the Jets would do in a pinch. A Boy Scout troop would also work.

I found wandering the internet writing about the most important event of the century:

THE CENTURY

The Treason of the Clerks

Jerry Pournelle

"Asked to name the most important event of the century, the temptation is to look to technology."
I won't link, but since I found it perfect reflection of something those lost don't want you to know... I thought you should know it is out there.

I just wonder why so much effort is made for the betterment of the few... go to school and the bottom twenty percent get all the attention. Just looking around, wondering...
